Understanding Color

So you want to color your hair?

How do you decide on the right shade or right amount of color or Highlight?

First: Examine your lifestyle and career; both of these are crucial to making this choice.

If you work in a conservative environment or you have a job that is on a professional level
I would not recommend anything too severe.

*In this style of employment you want to pick shades that are a bit more subtle and less bold.

*Don't go too blonde or red or make drastic changes.

What if my career is not an issue?

Well, then the sky’s the limit!

*However, do keep in mind that as far as trends go bold color is out at the moment. That is not to say you cannot do so but you may be the odd man out.

*If you do decide on Bold remember the maintenance

*The brighter the Reds the quicker they tend to fade.

*The Brighter and bolder the Highlight the stronger and more noticeable the re
-growth.

*Highlighting if using Bleach can cause rather extreme damage if not watched properly.

*Porous or damaged hair may grab color, which creates dark or drab ends.

Some tips

Never pull permanent color through the ends of the hair after initial lightening or coloring. Always use a semi-permanent color and fill first with conditioner.

Reason

Permanent color uses higher Peroxide and has more pigment, which may cause blackening of the ends.

*If hair is extremely damaged for any reason you should do a reconstruction treatment first.

*If pulling color through the ends mix in a small amount of Wheat Germ Oil or Cystyne Protein into the Formula to add shine and prevent damage.

*When you finally decide make sure that you have a through consultation with your stylist about the condition of your hair and how color may affect it.

When using Bleach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Always remove the packets in the order they were put in!!  Meaning, Bleach is a progressive lightener and you MUST start removing each packet as it is ready.

Do not leave all the packets for the same amount of time as then you will have to use a toner and this defeats the entire process of having a dimensional color!
